Attorney Sappenfield Shares Best Practice Tips for Disability Claims at NOSSCR NextGen Retreat

NOSSCR Event

Attorney Ashley H. Sappenfield of Lanier Law Group, P.A. was proud to present at the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) inaugural NextGen Retreat. She made the trip to Boulder, Colorado the very first week of March, joining other attorneys who help clients seek full and fair Social Security benefits.

In her presentation, Attorney Sappenfield shared her best practice tips for conducting a successful hearing and preparing evidence. She specifically addressed how to cross-examine vocational and medical experts.

What Is the NOSSCR?

The NOSSCR is a bar association for attorneys who assist clients seeking financial benefits through the Social Security Administration (SSA). That includes both Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claimants. To help early career attorneys “connect and network” with one another, NOSSCR dreamt up the NextGen Retreat.

The retreat was hosted by the NOSSCR’s “Next Generation Committee,” which comprises attorneys under the age of 40 or who have less than a decade of experience. (All committee members were also members of the NOSSCR.) Together, they curated a 4-day event chock-full of networking dinners and events, hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE), and more.

“This trip was a fantastic opportunity to meet other Social Security representatives and provide information that we can all use to better help our clients, especially in circumstances where expert testimony could make or break the case,” Attorney Sappenfield said of the NextGen Retreat.
