A residential structure collapsed last week in Pemiscot County leaving one man dead and a child injured. Police are still investigating the construction accident that took place in the rural community. According to the police report, the house collapsed in on itself last week in Homestown. Several firefighters were called to the scene to remove the victims inside. The child, a 3-year-old boy, was removed and brought to a hospital nearby for treatment. The other victim, 43-year-old C.W., was allegedly in the process of tearing down the abandoned structure when it collapsed on him and the child.
Despite the speed with which local authorities responded, C.W. lost his life while buried in the rubble. Several agencies responded to the call including the County Sheriff's Office, the fire department and the coroner's office.
