Obama Care is the medical Bill that will add around 20 million Americans that don’t have coverage medical care. As a result of this new law being passed, to start in 2014 or 2015, some lawyers are under the assumption that, medical malpractice lawsuits are going to skyrocket. There is a chance that the medical professionals today won’t be prepared for the demanding increase of people that they will soon be responsible for; every doctor’s office is going to be flooded with new patients. With the additional millions of people seeking medical treatment it is feared that some doctors may attempt to find new ways to be more efficient with their time when dealing with patients, and that this will lead to an increase of medical malpractice lawsuits.
This assumption is made based on the idea that with more people, there will be more errors and medical mistakes. When doctors and nurses have too much on their plate, and too many people to get to, it keeps them from having enough time to really investigate each patient’s illness to see what the best treatment would be. That is not to say that doctors don’t try their best, but this can already be a consequence of lack of resources in the medical field. It is hoped that in order to prepare for the new health care plan in the near future, that medical providers will increase their staffs and properly educate them on the specific areas of practice. Perhaps the medical schools will increase their enrollment numbers in the future in order to prepare for the changes that will happen. Medical malpractice is a very unfortunate thing for someone to have to go through.
