North Carolina Trying to Reduce Child Fatalities

According to news sources, North Carolina is working overtime to reduce child fatalities. With so many cases to review on their backlog, state officials stated this week that they will look at certain deaths first to better understand child fatalities. Each year, a task force is appointed and it is comprised of both state and local authorities. Right now, officials in North Carolina have 38 child fatality cases to review and their goal is to reduce further child-related deaths. Authorities say it is vital to look at each case carefully in order to determine how future accidents can be prevented.

In order to expedite the process so authorities can make it through the backlog some cases will be set to the side temporarily. A child fatality caused by a car accident, for example, may not be investigated right away as accidents are preventable. However, cases involving unpreventable deaths will be looked into immediately by the task force in the hope that future fatalities can be adverted.
