A police officer was injured last week by a wild dog. Doctors say that she will need surgery to both hands as a result of the attack. Last week police in North Belfast received a 911 call that a dog was attacking several people. When the officer arrived on the scene, one man had already been injured by the dog. The officer tried to get the attention of the wild Rottweiler, but only served to aggravate it in the process. At some point before the dog attacked, the police officer a Taser was discharged. Although it was aimed at the dog, the Taser did not hurt the animal.
The officer sustained serious injuries to both hands. The chief inspector commended the officer for working so hard to keep members of the public safe at all times.
