Police in the state of North Carolina are still investigating a truck accident that took the life of a man last week. The big rig driver lost control of his vehicle on a busy highway and crashed onto another highway below. The victim was recently identified as being 31-year-old C.G. of Spencer. According to the police report, the incident took place around 4 a.m. when his vehicle left the highway, overturned and eventually caught fire. There were several witnesses who described the truck becoming airborne for a few moments before crashing onto the highway below.
Due to the severe nature of the accident, traffic was backed up for hours as police and emergency road crews worked at the scene of the truck accident. A bridge involved in the collision will be checked by engineers to ensure soundness for future traffic flows.
