Coach Accused of Sexual Abuse

Parents at one high school were shocked to learn that a popular coach had been charged with sexual abuse against a student.

According to police reports, Matt Ryndak, 30, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for fondling a teenage boy last year. After learning about a warrant that had been issued for his arrest, Ryndak peacefully surrendered himself at the Crete Police Department this week. He quickly posted the $10,000 bond and will appear in the Will County Courthouse in Joliet this week.

According to George Elrod, the superintendent for the Crete-Monee School District, the school plans to meet with its attorneys to determine the status of Ryndak's employment. He was placed on paid leave earlier this month when the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services announced that they were opening an investigation on him. The identity of the victim will not be released to the public at this time.
