It is one thing when two cars get into an accident; it is quite another when a small vehicle is sideswiped by a tractor-trailer.
Such is the case of a 50-year-old who was operating a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 under the influence of drugs. The North Carolina Highway Patrol was called out last month to investigate a terrible truck accident. Official reports show that while several vehicles had slowed down for traffic on Interstate 40, the tractor-trailer was unable to slow down in time and struck a pickup truck in the rear. This caused a fatal collision that involved four cars, one of which burst into flames, and killed three people.
The 50-year-old is now being held in North Carolina on $1 million bond. He has been charged with driving while impaired, possessing drugs, and felony death by vehicle.
The three victims of the truck accident ranged in age and gender.
