Drunk Driving Accident Takes Man’s Life

One Florida woman will have to live with the knowledge that she took the life of another man after operating under the influence.

Officers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol were called in to investigate the car accident caused by a 22-year-old female who was intoxicated at the time. She was heading west on Hiwassee Dam Road, traveling at a speed of 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, when she lost control of her vehicle. She then swerved off the road, down an embankment, and into a man on a riding lawn mower.

The victim, a 63-year-old male, was unable to move out of the driver's way in time and was struck with the full force of her excessive speed.

As a result of the car accident, the woman has been charged with driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
