Bittersweet victory came to a woman in Burbank this week when she was awarded $4.5 million for the death of her husband.
According to the Pasadena Star-News, Suzanne Whatley-Miller was awarded $3.5 million in general damages, as well as pain and suffering, and $1 million in economic damages. She had filed a medical malpractice suit against Dr. Collin Cooper, the physician who wrongly diagnosed her husband, Thomas Miller.
Thomas had gone to see Dr. Cooper complaining of chest pains, and died after being given a stress test. He had been director of the Glendale Community Foundation before he died in December 2006 at just 51 years of age.
